Mount Kenya

This weekend Tyler and I are leading a group of high school students to climb Mt. Kenya. We will be leaving Friday morning and returning back to Nairobi on Monday. Please join us in prayer as we lead these 8 students up this 16,000ft trek. Pray for safety on the mountain, no altitude sickness, for physical health for us and the students, that we would have perseverance and endurance to complete the task, and that we would have fun together on this exciting adventure! We hope and pray that the Lord will open doors for good conversations during the hike with the students, and that through His creation and beauty on the mountain that the students would grow closer to God!

(These photos are from the first time that I climbed Mt. Kenya in 2010!)

This is the cabin/campsite we sleep at on the mountain!

Summit- breathtaking!

FabFeb

This past weekend we went to The Ark! A resort located in the Abadares National Park near Mount Kenya. Our whole team went in celebration for me, Kim, Tyler, and Lexi's birthdays in the month of February. There is a salt lick and a water hole right outside of the hotel that attracts tons of animals. We enjoyed sitting on the porch to observe tons of elephants, buffalo, beautiful birds, and other animals! It was so relaxing and a great change of pace to get outside of the city of Nairobi, have fun with our teammates, and just be together!

"I will praise you, O Lord. Although you were angry with me,
your anger has turned away and you have comforted me.
Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid.
The Lord, the Lord, is my strength and my song;
he has become my salvation. With joy you will draw water
from the wells of salvation. In that day you will say:
Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name;
make known among the nations what he has done,
and proclaim that his name is exalted. Sing to the Lord,
for he has don't glorious things; let this be known to all the world.
Shout aloud and sing for joy, people of Zion,
for great is the Holy One of Israel among you."
Isaiah 12

joyful beginnings

...new mercies everyday...

“Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up;
do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland."
Isaiah 43: 18-19

2012 is here! I honestly can't believe it.

highlights of 2011-

...first job out of college, working at Airrosti Rehab Centers
...moved to Kenya to work with BlueSky
...safari in the Maasai Mara
...coast of the Indian Ocean in Mombasa
...new friends in Kenya and meaningful relationships
...opportunity to lead Covenant groups with middle school and high school students in Nairobi
...growth in my relationship with Christ- His mercies are new every day. Praise Jesus!

This past weekend some of my best friends came to San Antonio to visit and ring in the New Year! We went to a country concert, hung out at the house, power walked through the neighborhood, worshiped at Oak Hills Church Sunday morning, adventured to Enchanted Rock to explore, watched countless YouTube videos as Darby, Heather and Lauren quoted Nacho Libre, and laughed the entire weekend. What a good way to start a new year!

Being home has reminded me how blessed I am by family and friends- it is good to my soul! These girls really do sharpen me, encourage me, make me want to be a better person, bring so much joy and laughter into my life, and point me to the Lord. So thankful!

we went on our own nature walk.. check out "neature walk" on YouTube. haha
