Morning Star Orphanage

Over the Christmas holiday, the BlueSky Youth team had an opportunity to visit Morning Star Orphanage. We took about 15 middle schoolers with us to play with these kids, and share the story of Jesus with them.

Smiling faces.
Laughter.
Yummy cookies.
Licking fingers.
Icing everywhere.
Decorating Christmas ornaments.
First Christmas tree!
Hugs. Games.
Different languages.
New experiences.
Beautiful day.
Joyful children.
Emmanuel.

One of my favorite stories from the day was watching a girl in my small group bible study, Katie, as she helped Rose, a girl who lived at the children’s home, put icing on her cookie. After Rose had put the icing on the cookie, she would lick it all off! Haha Katie gently told her, “No, you’re supposed to eat the cookie!” But Rose was too excited because she had never decorated cookies before. She redecorated her cookie about 4 or 5 times, licking the icing off each time, before she actually ate the cookie. haha It was so fun to share small treats like that with these kids!

We decorated Christmas ornaments and placed them each on the tree, read the Christmas story from the Bible, and got to share life together for that day! I'm so thankful that we got to share this day with these beautiful and joyful children!
